Day 6

~~~Journal Entry 0800~~~
I’m sitting at the guild waiting on Mar, She should be here soon. I still don’t have the slightest idea of what’s going on. Lahlee just walked in.
~~~Recorder 0830~~~

The screen is following Mar and Lahlee from Xzander’s point of view.
Xzander>> So where are we going, Mar? Why are you so quiet about it?
Mareeh>> Well, what have you done here besides kill monsters?
Xzander>> I’ve done a few favors for some people.
Mareeh>> Have you found a job?
Xzander>> No, not really. I don’t really want to settle down in one place.
Mareeh>> No of course not, I mean freelance work, crafts and hobbies.
Xzander>> Crafts? Like what exactly?
Mareeh>> Like anything. Sewing, carpentry, or fishing. There’s plenty to choose from. Today I wanted to get you started on one or two, and if we still got some time, I can show you some schools in the area.
Xzander>> Magic Schools? That sounds cool!
Mareeh>> Hehe, all kinds of schools, X. Can I call you X?
Xzander>> ‘Course.
Mareeh>> Well I don’t mean to be nosy, but how much gil do you have?
Xzander>> umm… a little over three thousand?
Mareeh>> Ok, what do you want to learn? Cooking? Black Smithing? Alchemy?
Xzander>> Smithing sounds very helpful.
Mareeh>> Well they’re all very helpful at some point or another. That’s why it’s good to learn as much as possible.
Xzander>> well… let’s stick with one for now.
Mareeh>> Of course, so smithing, right? Let’s get you a hammer.
Xzander>> Ok, where can I get one?
Mareeh>> Normally, crafting guilds carry everything you need, but there is no smiths guild here.
Xzander>> So what do we do? Choose something else?
Mareeh>> We might have to, but don’t give up this early. There’s one place we might find one.
~~~Recording gaps~~~
Mareeh>> This is the Auction house, are you familiar with it?
Xzander>> Nope.
Mareeh>> Well, People put stuff up for a hidden price, then others place bids, and the first one to reach or pass the set price gets the item. Some things are way overpriced, others are cheap, and there are many things that you can’t find in stores.
Xzander>> So maybe we’ll find a hammer still?
Mareeh>> Yeah, maybe.
Xzander>> Well let’s take a look.
Mareeh>> Looks like there is one. Maybe a thousand gil or a little higher.
Xzander>> Ok, it’s for the best in the end, right?
Mareeh nods, and Xzander begins to place bids.
Xzander>> 1500 gil.
Mareeh>> Not bad, could have bought it cheaper if we had a guild nearby, I’m sorry if I forced you.
Xzander>> It’s alright, I made my choice and I’m sticking to it.
~~~End Recording~~~

~~~Journal Entry 1400~~~
Seems that this hammer was well worth the investment already! I took some time to practice with that broken sword and some of my gear repairing plenty of damage. It’s shoddy work, but it’s better than nothing. Maybe I can get really good and make money doing it like Mar told me. Lahlee left earlier but said to meet her on the docks later today, I should probably make my way there now.
The auction house was pretty cool, I bet I can make a lot more money if I can play my cards right. Right now, I can sell the rabbit hides for much more than what stores will give me for them. We’ll see what happens.
~~~Journal Entry 1800~~~

Ahh… now this is relaxing. Lahlee surprised me with a fishing pole and taught me how to fish. We’re still at the docks now, and I’m just writing a bit waiting for a bite. So far we’ve pulled up quite the lot. Maybe I should find some more bait so I can do this every now and then.

~~~Journal Entry 2100~~~
Oh, Wow! The fish sold great on auction! Lahlee and I split the gil in half and got over 6,000
each! I should defiantly take the time to do this again soon. Maybe I can spend the money on my smithing skills since it’s so hard to get materials to work with here. I’m off to get some food and call it a night.
