~~~Journal Entry 1000~~~
Just stopping to make a few notes, got a quest this morning to hunt crabs along the coast, and I still have to find that masons rock. I probably should go back to him and ask for a little more detail on where to locate them.
On a more social topic, I’ve met a Galka for the first time by the name of Gilleth. We spoke for a while, but he said he had some errands to run in town. Perhaps he will return. I met another Mithra shortly after. Her name was Mareeh-Liahgo. It took me a while to pronounce it right, but in the end we agreed on just Mar. She’s a talented mage. I asked her to teach me, but she said that I can only learn at a magic school, and they don’t come cheap. Jeez, there’s so much to do, but you gotta have money to do anything. Maybe these quests will put me back on my feet before I miss tomorrows rent.
Lahlee just needs a lightning crystal to finish the repairs on the recorder. Hopefully she’ll be done soon. Gil had asked me to meet him outside the gates near the beach. I wonder what he’s up to. I’m going to gear up and find out.
Out in the dunes of Elderine Desert, near the sands of the beach, stands Xzander and Gilleth.
Lahlee>> Hey X! I fixed it!
Xzander>> Oh, Hey Lahlee, great timing. Maybe you can tell Gil that he’s insane.
Gilleth starts to laugh heartily.
Lahlee>> Why’s that?
Gilleth>> I just offered a friendly competition.
Xzander>> friendly, yes. Yet you will obviously win! Look at you, you’re well more experienced than I am. Better equipped to kill. There is no way I can possibly even come close to matching you.
Lahlee>> Xzanderrr, you should not doubt yourrrself.
Gilleth>> Xzander, there is more to it than just what we carry with us. It is what is inside of us that which makes us great. Not even the sharpest sword can help someone that doesn’t know how to handle one.
Xzander>> What do you mean?
Gilleth>> Why don’t I just show you. Have you fought these crabs before?
Xzander>> No, not really.
Gilleth>> They are not that tough or fast, just very violent. How much did the quest ask for?
Xzander>> At least 20.
Gilleth>> Then the first to pass ten will win. Just move fast and kill just.
Xzander>> If you say so…
Lahlee>> I’m surrre you can do it, X. Just try your best.
Xzander grins at Lahlee.
Xzander>> I don’t like trying. *draws sword* I just do it. Let’s go, Gil.
Xzander runs off to his first crab and crashes his sword down on it by surprise. He slices it again to finish it off, and moves on to number 2.
Xzander>>Still think that it wasn’t fair, Gil.
Gilleth laughs while Xzander grins.
Gilleth>> Yes, I may be more used to it than you are, but it was still pretty close, 11 to 9 is not something to be ashamed of.
The screen shows the Gilleth and Xzander walking next to eachother. Xzander is breathing a bit heavy while they are all walking back to Visalion.
Lahlee>> I think you did great, Xzan.
Gilleth>> You did have me worried for a moment there.
Xzander>> Maybe, but then you just blasted the last 2 away, cheater.
Lahlee and Gilleth burst out laughing again.
Gilleth>> It is not cheating if I simply use the abilities that I have developed. Maybe I can teach you sometime. For now, take this and let us call it a draw.
Gilleth tosses Xzander a money pouch.
Gilleth>> It’s not much, but maybe you can do something useful with it.
I’m still a little bummed out about losing to Gil, but the 2,000 he gave me was a nice gesture. It sure picks me up! Anyway, Mareeh wants me to meet up with her at the Guild the day after tomorrow. I guess I’ll just mess around tomorrow and try to find something to do. Maybe practice some more with this rusty stick I call a sword. :/
